AI Engineer - Azure

We are partnering with an innovative technology-driven organisation that is expanding its AI capabilities and seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join a growing team.

This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge intelligent automation, document understanding, and generative AI solutions that deliver real business value. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable AI systems using Azure technologies, OCR solutions, large language models, and modern machine learning techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions using Azure AI Services, Azure Machine Learning, and cloud-native technologies.
• Develop and optimise OCR and document-processing pipelines using technologies such as Azure Document Intelligence and other document understanding frameworks.
• Build LLM-powered applications, including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agent-based workflows.
• Train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models for tasks such as classification, information extraction, anomaly detection, and prediction.
• Develop scalable Python-based backend services and APIs to support AI applications.
• Integrate AI solutions with databases, enterprise systems, and third-party services.
• Monitor model performance, troubleshoot production issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and quality assurance to deliver high-quality AI solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience in AI Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of the Azure AI ecosystem, including Azure Machine Learning, Azure AI Services, Azure Document Intelligence, Durable Functions, and cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience building OCR and document-processing solutions.
• Experience working with large language models, prompt engineering, vector databases, and RAG architectures.
• Strong understanding of machine learning principles, model evaluation, optimisation, and deployment.
• Advanced Python development skills and experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Transformers, LangChain, or similar.
• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Proven track record of delivering production-grade AI applications and services.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with multimodal AI solutions combining vision and language models.
• Knowledge of MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, model monitoring, and model lifecycle management.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerised deployments.
• Understanding of cloud cost optimisation strategies for AI workloads.
• Familiarity with security, privacy, and compliance considerations in AI systems.
