Ireland Graduate

Ireland continues to experience a shortage of skilled workers in the IT Industry. This may be a result of the lack of IT-skilled graduates and the size of Ireland in comparison to other tech hubs (e.g. London & San Francisco).

Therefore, it is common for companies in Ireland to search overseas to bring in skilled tech workers to meet demand. However, this is difficult due to the costs of attracting and retaining skilled workers and how time-consuming this process can be.

The Irish Government is working alongside the private sector to address the skills shortage. They are investing in more training and education in STEM to develop domestic talent. This has resulted in the introduction of the ‘STEM Education Policy’, running from 2017-2026. This policy aims to raise interest and awareness of STEM among young people in Ireland and it also aims to offer the best STEM education and training in Europe by 2027.
