In Demand Tech Jobs in Ireland

The IT industry in Ireland is one of the best in Europe, employing over 37,000 people and generating €35 billion in exports annually. It is currently candidate led – meaning that the number of jobs available outweighs the number of people searching for new jobs. Based on our conversations with clients and our industry knowledge, here are some of the most in-demand tech jobs in Ireland in 2022.

1. Cloud Architects

Companies are choosing to transition to cloud services, which has led to an increased need for Software Architects who specialise in Cloud and distributed systems. This transition has been accelerated by the pandemic and the movement towards hybrid/remote work, resulting in increased efficiency, lower costs and improved security.

2. Cyber Security Engineers

In Ireland, there are 6,000 people working in the cyber security industry and it is home to 6 of the top 10 cyber security software companies. However, it has been well documented that there is a global skills shortage in this industry. In the national survey of the Cyber Security Skills Report 2021, 48% of the companies surveyed in Ireland had open or unfilled cyber security roles. This trend has continued into 2022, with the hardest to fill roles being SOC Analysts, Vulnerability Managers and Security Architects.

3. Data Scientists

The most valuable resource in the world is no longer oil, it is now data. Unlike oil, which is a finite resource, data doesn’t run out and therefore requires people to continuously analyse and interpret it (Data Scientists), making it one of the most popular jobs in Ireland right now. Data Scientists have the ability to work in any industry and have a high earning potential due to the value and insights they bring to businesses.

4. DevOps Engineer

The need for faster and reliable new releases has caused an increase in the demand for DevOps Engineers. DevOps encourages a culture of cross-team collaboration and open communication, allowing teams to integrate, test and deploy smaller amounts of code. This has the benefit of being faster, having fewer errors and better end-user satisfaction.

5. Software Engineer

With Ireland being the second largest software exporter in the world, Software Engineers continue to be one of the most in-demand jobs in Ireland. As well as the booming software industry in Ireland, Software Engineers are also in high demand because of the increasing growth in technology, limited lifespan of code and the need for innovative software. Some of the most popular programming languages in 2022 includes Python, Java, C# & PHP.

If you are a tech professional in any of the areas listed, you are in luck! Here at Reperio, we have Recruitment Consultants who specialise in each of these areas. They know which jobs are available and have an insight into the current market rate for both permanent and contract opportunities.
