Soft Skills

When writing your CV or updating your LinkedIn profile, people normally focus on their technical skills. However, soft skills are often overlooked and these are increasingly becoming more important for hiring managers.

Communication

How many times have you read a job advert and one of the top skills was communication? Even with a highly technical role, employers/hiring managers seek someone who has strong communication skills. The reason for this is the increasing use of teams to complete projects.

Decision making

Not only do you need to be able to make logical decisions, but you must also take responsibility for any decisions made, even if it was the wrong one.

Self-Motivation

Having the ability to work without constant supervision and under your own initiative is a skill that managers actively look for. Managers don't have the time to actively micromanage their employees all the time, therefore being self-motivated is a favourable skill to have.

Team Working

One of the most sought-after skills employers look for in a candidate is their ability to work well with their colleagues. Everyone loves a good team player who will assist in meeting deadlines and completing projects.

Time Management

Employees who manage their time well can efficiently prioritise tasks and organise their diaries, while adopting an attitude that allows them to take on new tasks and deadlines.

If you combine these soft skills with your technical skills, then you will become a hiring manager's dream!
