Head of PMO

Head of PMO | Dublin | Hybrid | Permanent

Hiring on behalf of a growing public sector organisation, seeking an experienced Head of PMO to lead the continued development and maturity of a Programme Management Office function.

Responsibilities

• Lead the ongoing development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the PMO function
• Coordinate the planning and delivery of an annual Work Programme across the organisation
• Maintain and improve PMO frameworks, standards, templates, and reporting processes
• Monitor programme and project performance, providing clear reports and recommendations to senior management
• Monitor cross-programme dependencies and support identification, escalation, and mitigation of risks and issues
• Support project and programme leads in identifying organisational change impacts and planning change management activities
• Provide training, coaching, and guidance to project managers to build PM capability across the organisation
• Prepare briefings and updates for senior leadership and governance forums on programme status, risks, and delivery performance
• Promote a culture of effective programme governance, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience in programme, project, or PMO management
• Recognised PM qualification - PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, or equivalent
• Demonstrable experience developing and implementing governance, reporting, and programme management processes
• Strong understanding of structured programme and project management principles and methodologies
• Experience preparing reports and briefing materials for senior management and governance forums
• Experience developing or delivering project management training, coaching, or mentoring
• Proven ability to work collaboratively and influence without direct authority

Nice to have

• Third-level qualification at Level 7 NFQ or above
• Experience in regulatory, public sector, or policy-driven environments
• Familiarity with change management methodologies or frameworks
