Data Engineer

I'm currently recruiting for a Senior Data Engineer for a leading global financial services organisation in Galway. This is an initial 12-month contract role focusing on hybrid working.

About the Role

• Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake and Synapse, for both batch and near real-time data.
• Build reusable, configurable ingestion frameworks for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
• Design dimensional data models and curated, ready-to-use datasets that feed Power BI reporting.

Requirements

• Previous experience in data engineering or data warehousing, including delivering cloud-based enterprise data solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake and Azure SQL or Synapse.
• Proficiency in SQL, plus strong Python and PySpark.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT design patterns and dimensional modelling.
• Proficiency with Power BI and Azure DevOps.

Desirable

• CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code, such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience in financial services, insurance or another regulated environment.
• Experience in a lead position mentoring other engineers.
