Email Security Specialist

My client in Dublin City Centre is looking for a contract Email Security Specialist for an upcoming project - this role will involve 6-9 months of work initially with the scope for additional work afterwards in other areas of the Security programme

Role:

• Monitor and analyze email traffic for security threats, including phishing attacks, malware, and spam.
• Implement and maintain email security controls to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Respond promptly to email security incidents, conducting investigations, and implementing remediation measures as necessary.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop and enforce email security policies and procedures.
• Stay on top of emerging email security threats and technologies, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Conduct regular security assessments and audits of email systems to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on email security matters, providing guidance and training to staff as needed.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in email security, including hands-on experience with email security technologies such as email gateways, spam filters, and email encryption solutions.
• Strong understanding of email protocols (SMTP, POP3, IMAP) and email authentication mechanisms (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
• Familiarity with email security standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001).
• Experience with security incident response procedures and tools.
• Able to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or GIAC are a plus.
