Thinking about joining Reperio as a Trainee Recruiter but not sure what to expect? We caught up with Con, our HR Manager and two of our previous Trainees who provided an insight into what life is like as a Trainee Recruiter in Reperio.
Training
Once you join Reperio as a Trainee, you will be given training which will take place during your working day. You will receive thorough in-house training and ongoing support from your team leaders, colleagues and directors to ensure that you are ready and equipped to take on the role.
“Each Trainee Recruitment Consultant in Reperio completes a full comprehensive Training Programme, which is tailored to them. This training programme lasts 10-12 weeks and consists of an in-house training programme, and external training programme & mentoring from our experienced consultants.”
(Con McBride, HR Manager)
Training will cover the management of clients and candidates, understanding your market (which you will be given when you join), advertising your roles, sales and much more. During the initial training period, trainee recruiters can still earn commission, which is an extra bonus for your hard work.
“I thought the training was a great insight into both the candidates and client sides of the role. The training really prepared me for the role and the challenges/pushbacks that you could potentially face and how to tackle them. I had never canvassed or spoken to new managers on the phone before, so I found it really helpful.”
(Shannon Murphy – DevOps & IT Infrastructure Recruitment Consultant, joined in 2022 as a Trainee Recruiter).
Becoming a Recruiter
Upon completion of training, you will be given the autonomy to manage the entire recruitment process. You will focus on one very specific IT market, allowing you to specialise in that market. You will gain an understanding of the market and the wants/requirements of the clients and candidates that you work with daily. You will be responsible for sourcing, targeting and developing a network of clients (businesses who work with us) and build relationships with them.
As a recruiter, you will take time to source prospective IT professionals for open roles and make sure that they are a perfect fit for both the client and the role. You will also manage the entire process for candidates, including interview arrangements, providing feedback, negotiating offers and opportunities for candidates.
“The training I received provided me with a background and a real understanding of what it means to be a Recruiter. It has helped me to grow and learn every day, and strive for long-term success in my Recruitment Consultant role here at Reperio.”
(Ross Holland - .NET Recruitment Consultant (Contract), joined in 2021 as a Trainee Recruiter).
