Making the move from one country to another can be a scary and daunting experience, with several factors that need to be considered before making the move.

Here are a few things you need to think about before getting on a plane and moving to Ireland

Is there a demand for your skills?

Before you move anywhere, you need to be sure that there is a demand for your particular skill set. This will make sure that you will be able to get a job easily in your chosen country.

When it comes to the IT sector in Ireland, the situation is promising. Ireland is home to 9 of the top 10 global software companies and 4 of the 5 top IT services companies.

Who is coming with you?

Are you moving on your own or do you have a family that is coming with you? If you are bringing children with you, you will need to be sure you are happy with the education system in the country you are moving to. You will not only want the best opportunities for yourself, but you will also want them for your children. In Ireland, every child is entitled to free education and is compulsory from the ages of 6 to 16.

What is the culture?

In Ireland, there is a very strong sense of community and culture, which is something that Irish people pride themselves on. The Irish culture is primarily made up of language (including slang), music, art, folklore and sport. The main language spoken in Ireland is English, with some people also speaking Irish.

How can I move to Ireland?

If you are a citizen of the European Union, the transition to Ireland is straightforward. You will not need to apply for work visas or permits due to the freedom of travel that all EU citizens are entitled to. However, if you do not live in a country that is a member of the European Union, you will need to have a work permit/visa before moving to Ireland.
